M.E. Companion Walker will be remembered amongst other things as joint author of the Historical Record of the First Fifty Years (1911-1961) of the District Grand Royal Arch Chapters of Antrim and Down.
By virtue of his service in the Royal Ulster Constabulary, in which he attained the rank of County Inspector, he had sound knowledge of different parts of Northern Ireland where he had many Masonic contacts.
He was prominent in different branches of the Order and served as Provincial Grand Inspector in 1959 and again in the years 1965-1967. In the years 1963-66 he was Provincial Grand Treasurer. His Mother Lodge sat in Loughbrickland and it was there in R.A. Chapter 173 that he was exalted.
In the District Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Down he gave distinguished service in a succession of Offices. He was a Director of Ceremonies in 1957 and became District Grand Registrar in 1958.
His years in the latter Office were very active until his appointment as District Deputy Grand King in 1966.
He was installed as District Grand King in 1973 and reigned until his death on 5th July 1976.
From time to time over the years Masonic Honours were conferred on him in recognition of his contribution to the Order.
